Supervising a circuit end to end

On a supervised initiating circuit, where should the end-of-line resistor be installed?

  1. At the panel terminals
  2. After the last device on the runYour answer, right
  3. Before the first device
  4. At the midpoint of the run

You: Why does the end-of-line resistor go after the last device instead of at the panel?

Strobe: The panel watches a small current that runs out along the circuit and back through that resistor. With the resistor at the far end, a broken wire anywhere on the run stops the current and shows as a trouble. At the panel, a break out in the field would go unseen.

Key point: The end-of-line resistor goes after the last device, so the panel watches the whole run.

Questions

When do I get access?

Straight away. Checkout takes you to your course, and the receipt email has the same link.

How do I get back into my course?

Use the link in your receipt email. If you can't find it, enter your email on the course page and we resend it to the address on your order.

Is 477 questions enough?

Each one comes with a worked explanation and its reference. You also get 30 end-of-module checks, timed code lookups, 8 a set and 3 worked calculations. Today's 10 and your missed set bring your misses back on later days, so you work the bank instead of reading it once.

Can I get a refund?

Eligibility depends on your plan, when you request a refund and your paid use. See the refund terms for the conditions and exceptions.

What if I need a retest?

Keep studying in the same course. Your access has no end date, so your retake prep is already paid for, and your practice history, missed questions and readiness by domain are still there.

How long do I keep access?

Lifetime access: your access has no end date. Updates are included, so if NICET moves this exam to a newer code edition while you have access, your course moves with it.

More questions (12)
Which editions does the course use?

The questions are written to NFPA 72-2022.

What is the difference between the practice pack and the course?

The practice pack is the question bank, untimed practice, code-navigation drills and the timed practice exams. The course adds a lesson for every task in NICET's content outline, worked calculations, a study plan built from your free 10-question check and an exam-day checklist. If any domain scored under about 60%, take the course.

Are the questions copied from the exam?

No. Every question is original and written to NICET's published content outline. Exam content is confidential and we never use it. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by NICET.

How are the questions written?

In our own words, to NICET's current published outline. See how many questions cover each domain.

Do I need my own copy of NFPA 72?

No. NFPA 72 is on screen at the exam, so you do not need your own copy. A printed copy is optional. We cite sections by number so you learn to find them fast, and we never reproduce the code's text. NFPA offers free read-only access online.

What score passes, and when do I see it?

NICET reports scores on a 0 to 700 scale, and 500 is the lowest passing score. You see pass or fail as soon as you finish. The official score report is in your candidate portal within 14 days.

How long do I have to take the exam after I buy it?

NICET's eligibility runs 6 months from the purchase date, and you can move your appointment inside that window. NICET says rescheduling usually costs nothing extra, but fees can apply within 24 hours of the appointment or after the window ends. Once an exam is scheduled, canceling it is not refunded. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late and are refused entry, the fee is forfeited.

Does passing the exam make me certified?

No. NICET also requires a work-history write-up and a supervisor's verification of your on-the-job performance. Certification is renewed every 3 years with continuing professional development.

Can I wear smart glasses or bring my own calculator?

No to both. NICET does not permit Meta or other smart glasses of any kind, and a calculator is built into the exam, so personal calculators are not allowed in the room.

Can my employer pay?

Yes. Pay at checkout and we email a receipt you can expense, or download a reimbursement request to send your manager.

Is Strobe AI?

Yes. Strobe is an AI study buddy, not a person or an instructor. Check important details against your lessons and references.

Can you promise I will pass?

No, and nobody honest can. We promise everything listed in your plan, and a fix within 2 business days for any wrong answer key.
